Yo, I just got myself an RG556. It's sick! The design is on point, the screen is bright and vibrant, and it's loaded with a ton of classic games. Anbernic really knows what they're doing. Shipping was fast and their customer service is top-notch. Trust me, you won't regret it.

I'm bad with computers, but the RG556 was extremely simple to get going and use and has been an absolute delight of a device.

First, it comes with a micro SD card full of games, but all the emulators are on the device itself, so you don't have to install or download anything. I heard that most handhelds, Anbernic or otherwise, ship with shoddy SD cards, so I backed up everything included on it on my PC so I can go get anything I want later.

All I had to do was load up whatever games I wanted on a 3rd party SD card, insert it into the RG556, and open up a relevant emulator and point it at the new SD card to play any games usable by that emulator. Very simple.

The RG556 seems to run PS2 games without difficulty; the only slowdown I've seen so far was an extreme number of flying bodies in Dynasty Warriors 4, which I remember seeing even on my physical PS2. It seems to run basically perfectly.

Sticks feel fine, games run fine. Battery life is excellent, I think I played this for 3ish hours on a GBA title and it drained about 20% of the battery. This is truly a great handheld for reliving the games of my childhood and teens.

If I had to give it a strike, it's that the screen protector included was a hilariously bad failure and I couldn't separate it from its backing/packaging. I've used screen protectors for many android devices and have never experienced the difficulty that Arbernic imposed on me with what they sent me to protect my screen, to the point I literally couldn't separate the packaged screen protector from its packaging. I actually couldn't extract the screen protector, and it did require me to buy another screen protector from a 3rd party, but that wasn't too big a deal.

This device is awesome and if you're considering getting one to play retro games, from NES to PS2, this is the device for you.

Image: the included screen protector, the tab to lift it from the plastic broke at the contact point and won't pull away from the screen, instead damaging that area of the protector. The screen protector would be useless even if I could remove the broken part of the extraction tab.

This gaming console is one of a kind, for the price you get something really worth the trouble, let me summarize them pros n cons.

Pros:
-You can play emulated games of a vast list of platforms, from the oldest Nintendo Entertainment System of 1983 till the latest Nintendo 3DS of 2010.
-The performance is pretty good in the 3ds, which, together with PS2 is the most demanding emulation platforms.
-Its very easy to add more games to the list, but once you download the game from the internet you need to do the following: Place the file in the correct Carpet path of the system. If you want to see the picture preview in the Game Mode menu, you will have to edit the gamelist file on PC and add some new entries with the new game and also download a screenshot to be accesible so it shows up when you list the games.
-The battery life is very good, around 7 to 9 hours depending on the intensity of usage, screen light, high mode, etc. but it does hold long.
-The recharge time is around 2 hours so its also pretty good too.

Cons:
-There are some cons especially in the beginning when you play the games for the first time. In some platforms such as PS2 or 3DS you need to make adjustments and play with the setting parameters until you get the best performance/quality ratio, its not that difficult. After that it is pretty decent in its performance.
-Its hard to emulate Gamecube games, but this is even hard and dificult in very high performance machines, so actually this is not anbernic fault.
-Nintendo Switch emulation is very very difficult, im still trying to get it done. Ive seen some videos in YT that did the job and it seems that the games may run decently depending on the titles requirements.

Overall im very happy with the purchase.
I will give it a 8,5/10 taking into account on how cheap it is and how many games you can play with it with good experience.
