I bought it for ps1 emulation and i like it. The native resolution 640x480 and rumble motors are good. I am happy. And due to active comunity the support is good. I can higly recomend to use this with ArkOS or AmberELEC systems
The build quality on this handheld is fantastic and the sturdy metal shell justifies the high price. The dpad and buttons are also excellent, but the shoulder buttons could be better. The screen has a very perfect resolution and ratio for most retro games. The only issues with the device are power, this console will not handle games above PS1 very well, N64 Dreamcast and PSP are playable, but not great. And the stock firmware is not great so replace it as soon as you can.
I've loved collecting emulators for the past few years and this one so far is the best I've come across. It feels premium with that metal body and build quality. The 351elec firmware takes it to the next level. This is the best handheld in my collection so far.
I would say it is a bit expensive from this website considering the additional $30 Shipping to India. But this was the only place I could order it from as AliExpress isn't available in India anymore.
No complains with the handheld whatsoever. The shipping was quick aswell.
First of, the unit is gorgeous and feels pretty great in-hand. The screen is phenomenal, overall the fit and finish is amazing at this price point.
My one concern is that my L1 is flaky right out of the box. I first noticed that it did not want to audibly click every time it was pressed but when attempting pinball games realized not only do 60%+ of L1 clicks not register, even when they do it does not detect L1 being held down.
I reached out to Anbernic support who replied and asked for a video demonstrating the issue. I've since submitted videos to them and am still awaiting a reply.
I will update the review after Anbernic gets back in touch with me again
This is my 2nd Anberic device and I just love everything about them! Disregard all negative reviews, these are buyers that clearly had no idea what they were getting into.
This is my first retro handheld, and I definitely did the right choice. I’m amazed at the quality build. You can feel the care that Anbernic puts into its devices. I’m so in love with my RG351MP that I’m already thinking about getting some new Anbernic consoles. PS - Extra fast shipping, got it in 2 days!
Ótimo, perfeito, o console quase universal. Se no próximo modelo a Anbernic colocar um processador mais forte, ele facilmente viraria o melhor do mundo. Jogo todo Fim de semana, PSx, N64, Snes, nes, dream cast e etc
Impressive device with thousand games. I bought it to play Pokémon games series. It works perfectly. I added my roms easily via my personal laptop with a simple SD card reader. Small weakness in sound quality with speakers (not tested with headphones). Shipped from EU, quick delivery. I recommend it!
La consola? De calidad y genial, el software? Bien tambien.
I bought this to play old games using retroachievements and it works great. The only issue is the wifi USB stick has become a little loose. Maybe it’s better to have wifi built into the device to prevent that from happening.
Otherwise it plays all my old favourite games.
It's great to use and is definitely a premium product, plays what it says it does and the controls are good, shoulder buttons are a little odd to use but other than that I love it
Great build quality. Premium feel. All buttons and dpad are responsive and just feel right. Blue color is striking. The screen is amazing with great resolution for classic systems. a few minor criticisms: no internal wifi, volume buttons instead of wheel, and a bit heavy vs plastic models. I knew this before purchasing so it was expected. Do yourself a favor and throw out the SD cards that came with the product and get some Samsung cards.
One thing that annoys me is the MicroSD cards aren't flush against the device but stick out a few millimeters. This hasn't gotten in the way of my hands when holding the device though.
Another bonus is the device is pocketful with good battery life. About 5 to 6 hours
The default firmware gets the job done but it is just barely passable. Look up a guide online to install custom firmware. I'm using Amberelec and the process was quick and easy. This system plays all systems up to ps1 flawlessly in my experience. It plays some n64 dreamcast and psp games but don't buy this primarily for those systems.
One other note. Gba has an aspect ratio of 3:2. This system is 4:3. Use sharp2x and lcd3x to somewhat remedy this.
To summarize get this of you like ps1 and below for a premium feel and an exceptional, pocketable, retro experience. This will be the only handheld I will use until GameCube and ps2 can be emulated at a more affordable price.
Good product, but missing WiFi dongle and usb to usb c adapter.
The build quality is great, battery lifetime excellent, display is bright and crisp.
Reinstalled the firmware with AmberElec and I was ready to go. Reliving my childhood memories playing Zelda - A Link to the Past. Pleasantly surprised that the display still has enough resolution to apply some basic CRT shader to it. Mainly use it to play SNES, Gameboy (GB, GBA) and arcade games on it. Dreamcast is a bit too much for this device.
Happy with the purchase!
Very impressed with the high quality of the device. First retro handheld and couldn't be happier with purchase.
Is perfect.
I am wery happy with device. The namebrand main memory card was nice surprise. Metal shell means that it is havier than it looks, but it is not incovenient. Display is vivid and clear. Controls are in good position even for my bigger than awerage hands. Battery lasts for up to 8 hours. Only one minor minus is that my friend‘ RG351P has nicer volume control.
High quality product. Fast shipping. Doesn't get much better fit the price.
This little thing is really impressive. Not only concerning the technology but also the built quality and the design. It is sturdy, buttons and joysticks feel great and it's just the right thickness for my feeling. My unit also included a screen protection, which was a nice suprise! It seems that the SD-card with the OS is from a no-name manufacturer (at least it is not marked with anything) - so I got that one replaced by a higher quality one right away (and use the original as a back-up). Other than that - it works nice, is stable and comes with a great set of games out of the box.
All in All - Highly recommended!
I recently had an urge to play game boy advance games so I began looking into the retro gaming handheld market. Several retro YouTube channels suggested the RG351MP as the best in the series, albeit "late to the party." I've never purchased a retro handheld before so I didn't mind and wanted to go with something of great quality. Lo and behold, THIS has quality. Metal exterior shell, beautiful screen, great button feel, actual portability (compared to something like the Nintendo Switch), this checked off all the boxes of a fantastic build. The power of the system is also impressive being able to play anything PS1 and below flawlessly. Additionally, it has the ability to play N64, Dreamcast, and PSP decently well which I wasn't expecting, though it could be hit or miss depending on the game. While the system can be played right out of the box, there are lots of choices when it comes to operating system and customizability with great tutorials and resources to be found online to help with the process which makes setting up a breeze.
In short, this is my first retro handheld and really set the standard of what I expect out of similar products. Great stuff.
Excellent right out of the box. Easy to use and works great. Recently took it on a long flight and it was a game changer. Feels premium in the hand and definitely fulfills the retro itch, at least up to the 16 bit generation. I’d recommend it.
Great gift for family and friends.
