I got the V version not the VS. I would highly recommend the upgrade. This vertical game boy colour sized form factor is perfect for me and ultra portable so I can put it in my work bag. Yes the horizontal devices are more ergonomic but they are all at least double the size. This device plays everything from ps1 and n64 and older. My only gripe is the battery capacity. It is 6 hours but under normal conditions you really only get 4-5 hours. I have a portable power bank to extend the usage. The ease of use of the default Linux setup is perfect for 90% of the games. I will likely buy another anbernic device If there is a more powerful horizontal device that can play Xbox or Xbox 360 games. The 405m is the ideal form factor but just not quite powerful enough for me to buy a second device

A perfect console for retrogaming, comfortable and with the right size with a high quality screen.

This device is incredible. I never would have imagined 20 years ago that all my favorite console and arcade games would one day be able to fit into a handheld console smaller than a Gameboy. All the features (when working properly) is truly a remarkable feat!
I must dock 1 start because the quality of these products is not great (but at the price point, what can you expect?). I had to return the first unit I received because 1) the power button was stuck, and 2) the CPU would not operate at 1.8GHz causing the OS to crash consistently. Thankfully Anbernic honored this by replacing it with a brand new device, however this one also had an issue: a broken L-stick button. I was able to source the part and replace it myself as I'm comfortable modifying electronics, but most people might struggle to do so.
In short, those with highly technical competency will love this device. Sure there are some quirks you might have to work through and you'll want to spend time customizing the GUI to your liking, but once its dialed it is truly a unicorn of a device!
