ANBERNIC RG 34XX

Holy guacamole, this thing is great and beat all my expectations. I was thinking it was going to be a cheap knockoff but I was completely wrong! Its a solid piece of equipment, compact, smooth, wifi, Bluetooth, ssh, plays movies and music, already pre-loaded, easy to navigate, easy to add on to, long battery life, responsive, etc. Ive gotten numerous compliments about it and many a jealous friends after seeing it. I can't say enough good things about this device. Even the price is great! Im going to buy one for my kid and friend so they can experience the nostalgia. If youre on the edge about making the purchase, take the leap. You wont regret it!!!! Now if you'd excuse me, I need to get back my FF7 play through.

Wonderful controls. Feels very nice and comfortable to press each button. Works perfect for GBA, as is designed.

Construction is great, though the battery pack rattles around in the casing (Not an annoyance or personal gripe.)

Size is perfect, and the screen is wonderful. Gets quite dim as well, though the green power LED is very bright in comparison when playing in the dark. Sound is decent, and nothing to complain about.

Overall it's a 9/10 device. Very affordable, and does exactly what I want out of a GBA clone. The color on the Glacier model is awesome as well, and I'm very happy with the device. Money well spent.

It's my favourite way to play GBA games!

Je retrouve la sensation "GameBoy" d'antan. Elle est agréable à prendre en main, les finitions sont vraiment propres et le système d'exploitation démarre vite et est assez performant. Je préconise dans la mesure du possible de faire une image de la carte mémoire fournie par sécurité. La croix est peu précise mais ça ne gêne pas pour les jeux peu exigeants. Les boutons sont très corrects, les deux gâchettes R2 et L2 sont un peu dures mais à l'usage elles sont pratiques car elles sont juste au niveaux des index de mes grandes mains. Je l'ai testée avec des jeux Nintendo principalement et ça tourne très bien jusqu'à la GBA (j'ai tenté un jeu ps1 mais j'ai été un peu présomptueux : on est en dessous des 10 fps mais ça tourne quand même ça m'a impressionné) Je l'ai reçu avec un défaut : l'écran avait une ligne verticale qui n'affichait pas le rouge (voir photo).
L'équipe du service client Anbernic, très réactive et professionnelle, m'a aussitôt proposé de m'envoyer un nouvel écran avec en prime les instructions pour le monter. Après remplacement (ce qui a été simple et rapide) elle fonctionne parfaitement bien. Je recommande.

I got the green one and installed MuOS on it and replaced the two as cards with sandisk cards. After that (process takes about an hour, just YouTube it) it has been all set! Beat donkey Kong country snes on it already, and been playing Mario kart ds and Star fox snes lately. Mkds works perfectly (no video or audio lag) which I was crossing my fingers for.

The RG34XX is everything that I was looking for. It is faithful to the old GBA's design, feels amazing and much better with its modern improvements (Namely the bumpers and additional X + Y button and shoulder buttons.) Everything feels as it should, it is comfortable in the palms of my hands and is pretty drop resistant, thankfully. I highly recommend migrating from the stock OS to something like Knulli to truly make the device feel like your own, and customize it into the perfect handheld gaming machine.

This isn't just a novelty form-factor clone of the Gameboy Advance, it's clearly made with immense respect for the original platform and pays close attention recreating what made it great. From the high-quality feel of the buttons to the perfectly-sized 3:2 aspect ratio backlit screen this is what you want if you love playing GBA games on the original form factor. My only criticism is the D-pad could be 10% tighter but this is more of a nitpick. It still works perfectly fine for everything I've played. I've owned a few retro gaming handhelds but this one still has me playing daily whereas others lost their luster after a few days.

I took a chance on this unit, first time using an anbernic item. It looks and feels like the original GBA. I absolutely love it! Highly recommend for fans of the original gba. The form factor is much better then the GBA SP in my opinion. I've already beaten a few games on this beautiful unit after only having it for 2 weeks. It's so comfortable and portable so I can play games on the fly anytime anywhere

Just a wonderful experience so far.
Retroarch can add a shader that reproduces the pixel grid effect of the 2001 model, while the screen resolution is strictly 3x higher. The additional pair of shoulder buttons in the back also completely fixes the original's awkward handling.
It's been really enjoyable to have it on the train, in waiting rooms, etc.

Only a few weeks in and have already discovered so many older gems with this handheld. I highly recommend this for any GBA enthusiasts, but this is also perfect for plenty of PS1 era turn based rpgs along with SNES. Very nice to have this device always next to me if I need to distress for a few minutes. Sleep and suspend work great, buttons are good quality. I really can’t ask for anything else with this guy. I hope this form factor stays around for a while and is eventually upgraded!

I've been reviewing Anbernic and other handheld devices within my community for a few years now, and the RG34XX has quickly become my top recommendation for anyone looking to get into emulation handhelds.

The ergonomics are solid, especially for those with smaller hands. If you found the original GBA a bit too compact, you might experience the same here, but overall, the button placement feels intuitive. Borrowing from the classic GBA design, the addition of XY buttons and L2/R2 triggers is seamless, making gameplay feel natural. The buttons are also satisfyingly quiet—perfect for playing in bed or quiet spaces.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous. While I'd love to see an OLED version in the future, the current display does a fantastic job. With RetroArch shaders, you can replicate a retro LCD effect for GBA and GBC games, adding an extra layer of nostalgia. CRT shaders also look stunning on this screen.

The RG34XX comfortably handles PSX games, but I find it truly shines as a GB/GBC/GBA-focused device. For the best experience, I’d recommend sticking to games that don’t require a touchscreen or an analog stick. However, if you're comfortable using the Function button and D-pad, you can push its capabilities further. PortMaster is a fantastic addition for running Windows ports like Celeste and TMNT.

While the stock OS is perfectly serviceable, I'd recommend trying KNULLI as an alternative. It enhances the experience, especially if you're after a cozy, GBA-style aesthetic—the Canvas Theme is particularly fantastic.

Anbernic is on the right track with the RG34XX, and I can't wait to see what they do next. A future OLED version would be a dream come true!

I received the RG34xx in 6 days, way faster than I expected. When I booted up for the first time I expected to be greeted with a lengthy set up process, but was delighted veto see that I only needed to do minimal settings adjustments, load my roms and go. No trouble what so ever. Performance is fantastic for a device priced at $70. it can emulate everything up through PS1 without even breaking a sweat. When I first started using it I did notice that the D-Pad seemed to press inaccurate directions when pressing down. But after using it for some time, this issue did not persist. In fact, it seemed to improve. I no longer have ANY inaccurate button presses. Overall as far as portability, functionality, and compatibility. This is just as good as any other RGXX device. But this form factor is what sold it for me. Fits my hands perfectly, and is a perfect GBA alternative.

...but expect a few bugs! The device I received has a battery disconnect so I can't boot the device unless it's plugged in to the charger but once it's on it runs beautifully. I imagine you can get a replacement if you prefer but I don't mind the small issue. It's super nice to hold, very reminiscent of the GBA, and the screen is gorgeous. Expect games up through PS1 to run decently but it's really optimized for GB, GBC, and GBA.

Great quality little handheld that brought back some old memories

The RG 34XX not only brings a touch of nostalgia, but it's actually better than the old devices from my childhood.

The buttons are sturdy, and the user interface is customizable.

The screen resolution is high, especially compared to the original. I always keep it in my pocket :-3

It's awesome

Got this for my husband and he loves it! We haven’t installed a new OS and it’s working fine but might in the future. Transferred some games it doesn’t come with easily and they run great. Plan to get one for our kids soon too!

I heard only good things about Anbernic and wanted to try it out myself and I wasn't disappointed!
The quality of the hardware is stunning, a bright red and a deep green, yet both translucent - the plastic feels high quality and the software is pretty neat also.

I highly recommend anyone getting one of these or any other console from the Anbernic family, as I am sure the others are just as good , if not even better!
