ANBERNIC RG CubeXX

Thisis such a great device...ergonomically, battery life wise and features like BT, WiFI and HDMI out. Really great device! I specially like how R1L1 and R2L2 buttons are placed...for PS1 games :)

It is very enjoyable console. More powerfull than I thought. I added sim card and uploaded games without trouble. The console came with the latest firmware update.

Super happy with this handheld but after I wasn't sure what to expect. The Sega style D pad was a huge surpise and I love it! The screen also is odd but Inset all the consoles to 8/7 ratio and they use up the screen and look great. CubeXX handles all the classic conoles plus N64, Dreamcast and useable for some DS titles. It can run PSP but the screen format isn't a good fit. Install Knulli on the CubeXX and its an amazingly great deal on a wonderful handheld. This compliments my Anbernic SP with the dual analog sticks and Sega D Pad. The CubeXX has quickly become one of my favorite handhelds. It really surprised me.

A lot of folks do not like the XX series based on the H700 hardware.

These devices offers a ton of mature options when it comes to run custom firmware to personalize your device and smooth out the experience of consolising your device. Knulli has been my favorite choice so far.

Also with the 1:1 screen ratio, it's probably the best device to run the Pico-8 natively and I've been having a ton of fun completing bitsize pico-8 games!

This device is amazing. If you delve into the forums you can really personalize your cubexx. I put a custom firmware on it and dumped tons of games onto it. Super Smash Bros for the N64 works on it. It’s wild. All kinds of games I’d never expect to work, work perfectly. PSP works super well, as well. It completely surprised me that I could play metal gear solid. If you’re debating, just pull the trigger and buy one. You won’t regret it.

Currently awaiting a custom firmware to be released. Tested a few roms without issues. I'm loving the stereo sound quality. I'm also liking the RGB lights around the sticks can be turned off.

Device arrives ready to play. Adding games is easy and there are also 3rd party OSes for it to try. Works perfectly to emulate games until PS1. Most of all it's very comfortable.
I found myself playing for hours with no hands discomfort or pain at all.
Recomended? YES!

Build quality is excellent and the size is perfect for portability.

I am really happy with this device and the Anbernic team. There was complete transparency during shipping with package tracking and once it arrived, the product itself was exactly as advertised. It is light and very portable, as well as comfortable to hold and play. It comes with so many games!! Many I hadn't heard of, but are absolutely bangers. You really get lost in the gaming experience with this device. Before playing any game, you have to wait around 10 to 15 seconds which is expected since the games run off the micro SD card, but that tiny wait is worthwhile since once the games run, the gameplay is smooth(both graphics and sounds). I have had no issues at all, the RG Cube XX has so many ways to customize it, so you have a lot of control. I have no complaints, and it surpassed my expectations. The price is perfect as well, as a budget console you're not breaking your wallet. This is my first Anbernic product, but definitely won't be my last. I look forward to buying again and if you're considering, I highly recommend you to!

I love the assortment of games on this great little compact device. From the picture, I thought it would be a lot bigger, but it was a great size actually. I like how it feels when I am playing and it is very responsive.

Amazing machine!!! Smooth experience and the ability to hook the system up to a portable monitor is epic! Preloaded with smashing titles from back in the day. Highly recommend this as a first console for emulation!

The RG CubeXX is great. I’ve been into retro gaming for years and own most platforms, and for a simple pick-up-and-play device this is perfect.

Reliability has been solid, I’ve bought a few and set up for friends and they’re enjoying theirs too. The GUI is absolutely fine straight out of the box, despite what some other review say. Battery life and build quality are both good, and I’ve been happy with all the models ive used.

One thing to be aware of is connectivity and transparency. Like many imported retro handhelds, this isn’t a fully open-source device and the stock SD card contains multiple Linux partitions that aren’t fullty visible, however that’s normal for embedded systems, but if you’re security-conscious it’s worth replacing the included SD card and flashing your own firmware setup.

It’s also worth pointing out this is not a cloud connected modern console, Wi-Fi features are limited and it’s really designed as a self-contained retro machine rather than something tightly integrated with online services.

None of this has been an issue for me, but it’s worth knowing what you’re buying. My only real wish would be for it to be fully open source that would take it to the next level, but over all the guys that design and build these have done a great Job and I'd absolutly recommend them.

The RG CubeXX is amazing. I've been loading it up with my favorite arcade, Atari 2600, Atari 800, Atari ST & Atari Lynx games. Everything runs perfectly! Almost everything is configured exactly right. The only issue I had was a RetroArch issue. Asteroids hyperspace button was not mapped for the mame2003_xtreme core. I tried to fix this with a core-specific remap file but mame2003_xtreme kept overriding it with a directory-specific file. I created a game-specific remap file and now all is well.

The device and controls feel natural.

Samples work for arcade games if you put them in the SD card's bios/mame*/samples folders. The screen has clear definition and color. The RG CubeXX plays music and videos. I wish I would have had one of these when my kids were little. This would have been a much better solution for entertaining kids than an iPad.

Form factor is excellent, especially after adding a silicone grip. Button config flawlessly delivers for its compatible emulators, and the tactile feedback is wonderful.

Stock OS is sufficient and customizable enough for most needs; RetroArch fills in any gaps.

Runs 8- and 16-bit emulators perfectly. 32-bit emulation is also great. 64-bit has some issues, but most of my favorite N64 titles were also released for Playstation. Had to convert .7z to .PBP so look up a guide if you want a PSX experience from your external card.

10/10 would buy again

Fantastic device. Great screen for arcade games and og gameboy. Had to replace the sd card as its not a good quality card and also changed the firmware to knulli for a better experienace. Anbernic are amazing customer service and quick delivery from china to uk. Highly recommend the cubexx just about pocketable. Comfy to hold and is good for hadokens and dragon punches 😉 no false diagonals. This is the 3rd device from anbernic and will be buy more as all the devices offer different gamijg experiences.

I ordered the cubexx and it arrived wrapped in lots of protective layers. The box was in perfect condition even though it came all the way from china. It has more games and consoles preloaded than I knew existed. I was surprised it had n64 games. I did a quick google to find mario and sonic games I like and moved them to my cube with the sd card. So much easier than I thought rom/emulators would be. The preloaded games even have the bezels to make it look like you're playing on an old school tv

I love this little gadget. My only complain is that I can't connected to wi-fi. Other than that is a great emulation handheld.

Bought this as a birthday gift for my wife. She absolutely loves it! Very bright and responsive, controls function great, no lag. Everything is as expected, better even. Overall satisfied!

Running PS1, N64 and portmaster games with no issues. Installed MUOS but honestly felt the stock OS is just fine. Love the ergonomics and the 1:1 screen. Shipping from China to Canada was no issue.

Feel is great. Sound and video is great. Most of the games work. Wish the battery life was better. Overall good.

I'm pretty happy with it and it works well for what it is. Ergonomics are also very decent. I've never had a better pico8 experience and Portmaster is a must. I have no experience with the stock OS but it works well with Knulli. The only downside I found is that the battery never seems to hit 100%.

Do you like games before 2000? Do you wanna play them on the go? Steam deck too damn high you’re rent is jealousy? Well this might kinda work for you 😆. Resolution if good. If you’ve played tekken 6 on the psp before… that’s what you’re working with💪🏾. If that upsets you… there are other models 🤷🏾‍♂️.

For those who care this thing allows you to play rom hacks and retro games (if you were born in the 90’s I felt your pain 😢). If that tickles your fancy this is a great entry level emulation exp 👍🏾. My main con is that sometimes you gotta turn this hoe on/off like a Super Nintendo on life support. You may need some patience to make load up consistently after 60 plays of on/off counters. When it’s on though??? Pokémon shiny gold matches anyone?
