There are two different user types for this device: the surface user and the optimal user.

The surface user might purchase this device, get it in the mail, and then just start playing with the stock SD card and stock games that come on the SD. Leaving the stock SD, with anbernic's own OS, will work... for a while. It will inevitably fail, as this is planned obsolescence.

The optimal user will do their research and realize they need two new sd cards that are much more reliable. SanDisk is great. They will buy a 32 GB card and a 128 GB card. The 32 GB card will be used for flashing Anbernic's own os from anbernic's website onto the card using Rufus for flashing on SD. the 128 GB card will go into the right SD slot - it will automatically format, so you can put all your roms into the newly created rom folder after first bootup - with the 32 GB OS card going in the main left slot. Do all these things, find all your rom packs googling online, and you will have a great time.

This device requires an optimal user, so follow the steps above and this handheld will be with you for a good long time.

I bought this to play fanmade pokemon games and it has done that excellently. Bought 2 weeks ago and have logged over 100 hours into a game already. The only downside to this is there doesn't seem to be any kind of Indication that the battery is low. It just dies and you get to find out where you last saved.

I bought this console mainly to play the first and second generations of Pokémon, and it hasn’t let me down. As a bonus, it even came with the Aliens game preloaded, which instantly took me back to my childhood arcade days. It’s perfect for nostalgia. I really hope they release a future version with the same minimalist design but an upgraded screen. The current one is good, but a sharper display like those on smartphones would make it even better—I’d definitely pay for that. Compared to other models I saw in their catalog, this one has the ideal size for traveling and a clean, simple design that isn’t overcomplicated.

Gostei demais do aparelho quando vi muita gente falando no YouTube e já tinha outros consoles de outras marcas e de momento não conhecia a marca mas quando tive contato e vi realmente e muito bom no desempenho na construção, muito bom e multi funcional depois eu vi o RG557 aí fiquei impressionado mais o que atrapalha são as taxas que são impostas aqui no Brasil mas se houvesse chance teria também ele.

To put it into one sentence: It just works!
The stock os might not be the prettiest, but everything just works. It even had moonlight preinstalled and I can play games that are running on my pc with e.g. steam big picture remotely. It has everything I needed in a handheld.
