I was looking for something that could play 4:3

I was looking for something that could play 4:3 game content but also be a vertical at the same time and this one does not disappoint, bought the retro beige with the familiar DMG Gameboy style. It is a chonky boy, But the best chonk in every way. Plays N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii, Wiiu, PS2 and Switch games really well especially with that the limitation of that massively amazing Mediatek Dimensity 8300 chipset and can rock on the gamenative app and play PC really well. It may not be the AYN but I appreciate power and performance where it can participate and compete in the space of retro handhelds that rock an even better chipset in theirs, plus the form factor and being able to hold in the hand is really something unique and special. Not pocketable by any means, but large enough for you to grasp in the hand and utilize the control sticks as they were meant to be utilized better than most vertical handhelds in this market. If you are looking for a performative vertical handheld you have genuinely come to the right place. This device will keep you coming back for more hours of gaming in a surprisingly new DMG way.

Excellent Device

Absolutely love the RG477V - it plays everything up to PS2 and Gamecube. TBH, it has replaced my OG Legion Go because it is smaller, lighter, and much more portable. I play in bed at night and it is much easier to hold. The screen quality is amazing, crisp, clear, and colorful. Controls are responsive. Very easy to set up ES-DE as the front end and I'm using standalone emultors for most of my games. This device is highly recommended.

Solid Device

Huge, beautiful screen. Makes all my retro games look phenomenal. Plays a lot more of my steam indie games than I thought with the 8gb model. Pretty comfy when playing. Haven't put it down since it arrived. No regrets.

Fantastic Vertical Device

The screen is vibrant and looks fantastic. The controls are comfortable and very quiet which is nice for late night gaming. Everything i run on it runs well and overall I think it's a fantastic package and feels we'll made. The best Anbernic device.

Awesome!!!

I will say this is my second console from you guys and boy was it a major upgrade. It's overall good and love the big screen for gba,n64,psx and ps2 games they look phenomenal. only complaint is that you have to install your own games but didn't stop me. You get use to it after many tries.

An almost perfect vertical handheld

After extensive use of thr 477v I can say it is by far my favourite way to play 4:3 content and even 1:1 gameboy titles are pretty cool on here too. The gorgeous display has contrast that almost rivals an oled and draws you in while playing. The ergonomic feeling of handling the 477v allows you to play for extended stints of time while allowing you to play titles that even use the function of the analogue sticks.

All this being said I do wish there was a snap dragon processor in the console to have more driver support. Even if the 477v was more expensive having that chip set would make it a definitive handheld. Where it does have enough "juice " to force open gl in emulation through dolphin without the driver support it almost nullifies the justification to buy the 12 gb model. And because of that the higher end emulation (switch, ps3 and winlator/ gamehub) youre very limited with.

The reason why I chose to get the 477v over the pocket dmg or the newly announced vert is the fact physical controls are present and done well. Unfortunately I cant give it 5 stars due to the mediatek chipset in there and really do hope that for the next handheld anbernic releases something with a snapdragon and maybe have software development to be able to output a 16:9 display if docked through a usb-c connection to a secondary screen.

Bravo anbernic for making my hands down favourite vertical hand held of all time!

SO worth the money

Honestly I was skeptical about getting one afraid to spend the money, but a mutual friend of mine got the 405 and I liked his a lot. I thought if I was gonna commit I mind as well get the newest one, and boy is it worth it. I got the 477v and I’m not the most tech savvy person but I figured it out and I’m playing all my childhood games. So if you’re on the fence I truly think you should do it ! The quality is definitely there ! No regrets at all.

Best vertical handheld, period.

Ordered the 12GB edition during the preorder period and it was in the mail within a couple days with generally fast delivery to the USA.

Fantastic device. Extremely comfortable to hold and this has been my main 4:3 system along with the handheld I toss in my work bag to get me through the long conference calls and breaks.

Plays through PS2 perfectly and that’s about as high I go for emulation but I’m sure it can handle up to Switch with proper drivers.

Fan isn’t loud, runs cool, especially on retro system and the battery has plenty of life for multiple days of up and down action.

Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed.

A Gaming Handheld Like No Other

Almost came real close in getting RG 477M until news & videos regarding the RG 477V was released to the public. Did my research & decided to get the RG 477V over the RG 477M thanks to a holiday sale 5 days before Christmas. The day one delivery experience with the RG 477V didn't disappoint. The craftsmanship reminded me of a Super Size original GameBoy fully loaded with enhancements. The material looks cool & comfortable in the hands. It's light overall & doesn't weigh like a brick.I was concerned about 5th & 6th gen platform software performances but Anbernic took care of that. Most games ran smooth as butter with improved audio & visuals. The big screen makes it easy on the eyes as well. The controls are very responsive during gameplay. It's been a great experience so far with the RG 477V. No buyer's remorse here. Perfect handheld for retro gaming IMO.

The king of vertical machines!

Ive been blown away by the power this thing packs, it performs better than my snapdragon devices! The screen is amazing and pops just as much as any oled panel. If your looking for the ultimate vertical handheld, this is it!

Making my sister smile

Life can sometimes be cruel, and it delt our family a curve ball of sadness. My sister needed a distraction and I decided to buy her the rg477v. Very impressed with it. Simple setup... Much easier than my flip 2. The screen is beautiful and the battery life is really impressive. We used to love playing Mr Nutz on the snez and she'd tried a retro emulator before and wasn't impressed but this 477v is next level. Well done anbernic you bought a smile back to my sister's face

100% satisfied

The console comes with a lot of preload emulators that work perfectly, even tho the screen is a LCD screen, it’s amazing, it doesn’t really need a OLED with this quality already built on. It runs PS2 smoothly and the shipping was also fast even tho I used the cheaper option it arrived at my door in around 10 days. Absolutely satisfied with the product.

The short answer, amazing

The short answer, amazing. The only downside is that you do need to have some minimal skills to get games loaded and working. Not that it's hard, but it's not plug and play.

This is Worthy!

IMO, the best retro to date! The 447 has no problem running with game card from my 353 and so far is handling everything without the slightest problem (outside of my inexperience ladened learning curve). I had a bad experience with a Win11 unit but the 447 is making up for that very nicely.

Beautiful and powerful

I bought the RG477V because I was tired of playing romhacks on my phone and my old GameCube games on my computer. I was looking for a portable console capable of handling both without compromise, and the RG477V completely met my expectations. After two weeks of use, I can say that I’m genuinely very satisfied with it: games run perfectly, the console is pleasant to use, and its design is truly superb.

New to emulation and this is my 2nd handheld.

I am new to the emulation game and this is only my 2nd handheld but it is amazing. Everything I’ve tried runs smoothly and the physical layout is really nice. It takes a little getting used to with the trigger layout but once you get it into your muscle memory it’s great. The screen is beautiful and the touch works great. The speakers could be a little better and are a little on the tinny side but it’s hard to get small speakers to sound good on any small device. Just don’t turn it up to full volume and they sound much better. Overall this exceeded my expectations. I haven’t been able to put it down.

The console is good but

The console is good but it would have been nice that it support 100% ps2 game properly, i know that ps2 is demanding in term of performance so mabye its one of the only problem i was face with. I try jax x racing and even with the best perfomance setup its still very hard to play sometime the game just go slow motion and then come back, but i will try other performance demanding game to see if they work better but in general pretty good console, hope to see mabye a update for the perfomance in the future of maybe a quick guide overall to render game better. And one more thing racing game on ps2 that move very fast cant be played properly that's the assumption that I made
