Love the device, needs some hardware improvements

My name is Shashank Banerjee, I am a resident of India and a very avid gamer. I purchased RG40XXH and have been using it for a week. The device is performing very well. Right now, I have played NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA and PS1 on it and I am currently tinkering with custom OS (Knulli) on the device. The device has been very nicely designed and the stock OS also performs well. I have a couple of points which I would have liked in the device

1. I am a left handed person and I use different button configuration for different games which I use an emulator on my computer. The stock OS does not have the capacity of changing the mapping of the buttons for different games. If that is possible, I am certain a lot of gamers will appreciate this because many people do not have the technical know how to install and operate cutom OS of configure different mappings using retroarch on the device. A lot of people want an out of the box experience but might still want to change the button mapping according to their preference.

2. I had a problem with my device which I received. My motherboard died on me within 2 days of receiving the device after I installed a firmware update for the device. I think that the motherboard may have shorted because of some issue with the power delivery to the device. Since, I live in India, there are issues sometimes with voltages and such here and things do not run perfectly sometimes. If the company is targeting India and other countries like India, as a market and I think you definately should since it is one the biggest emerging markets globally right now, you will have to work on the components so that it can handle variances in electricity voltages and power delivery from different kinds of power brick since, 5V adapters have now become very old and most of Type C chargers out there are now higher capacity of PD chargers compatible with today's smartphones. Easier alternative is to just provide your own proprietary charger either in the box or sell it as an accessory through your existing marketing channels.

3. Most importantly, hats off to the support team. The support team helped in everyway possible when I was facing issued with my device. They also sent me a replacement motherboard, which I was able to install propoerly on my device and now it is working perfectly. I would suggest creating a teardown video as a guide for customers when you launch a new device. Because I was searching for a teardown video on youtube so that I can replace my motherboard but I could not find one since RG40XXH is a recent ly launched device. It would help a lot of people in properly maintaining the device on their end. Still the repairability of the device is very good, any person with a little bit of knowlege will be able to maintain or tinker with the device on their end.

All in all, kudos to you guys for launching a budget gaming device. I hope my suggestions helps. Appreciate what you are doing.

RG40XX H First Handheld EMU Experience

I will not lie as I was very skeptical about ordering the device as I have usually just emulated off my laptop, xbox, or phone. Although, after some time on the phone it just is not what I wanted as I wanted to keep my phone for its normal usage without draining the battery quickly. I would say I am somewhat experienced for when it comes to emulation and can usually problem solve it. I will definitely be getting the RG Cube as I will want to try my hands on a handheld that can do ps2 and gamecube.

One directly from china is not fully up to date

I ordered one of these directly from China instead of one from America because on the site it advertises that if you choose to get the one from China it will be completely up to date on the software/firmware. However I have reason to believe mine is not up to date. if I leave it in sleep mode overnight it will be dead by the time I come back to it the next day. but in one of your patch notes it says that you fixed that issue with an update which means that mine is 100% not fully up to date out of the box. So I would like them to either actually fully update their machines before sending them out or not advertise that on the website

On a more positive note I quite like the device and it plays all of the PS1 games and Dreamcast games I have tried very smoothly. DS emulation also works well. The PSP emulator does not work too well. The frame rate constantly dips into the 10-15 fps range except for games that aren’t too graphically intense. 2D games on the PSP seem to run well. And 2.5D games also run well.

Overall I would recommend this device but it’s just got a few issues here and there
