My first handheld

First Impressions / Ease of Use
I’m not the most tech-savvy person in the world, but I definitely know my way around computers more than the average person—I know file managers inside and out.
I’ve put H O U R S into this handheld over the last couple of weeks, and let me tell you: I f*cking love this thing.
Depending on what frontend you use (I use ES-DE), the drag-and-drop nature of this handheld is incredibly easy to work with. That said, I do recommend understanding how file management works on Android, or following a close tutorial on YouTube.
Performance: 7/10
It plays what it needs to play flawlessly. I don’t think you’ll be running Wii U or Switch games on here, but Wii, GameCube, PS2, and Dreamcast all work most of the time. Honestly, if you spend some time tweaking settings in the individual emulators, I bet you could get a solid 45–60 FPS on almost every game.
Controls: 9/10
The face buttons are nice and punchy while still having that soft mesh feel.
The joysticks? Amazing.
The Hall effect sticks really stand out on this handheld and make everything feel smooth and enjoyable. That said, if you mostly play 3D games, having the stick below the D-pad can feel a little cumbersome.
Analog triggers? Check.
The only reason I dock a point is because the bumpers are clicky:
1. It breaks the consistency with the rest of the controls
2. They’re noticeably louder than the rest of the console
Screen
It’s not some ungodly 6K display, but it’s also not low resolution either—it honestly feels perfect.
Because of its 4:3 aspect ratio, it can display most retro content in its native resolution beautifully, and the extra vertical height helps show more of the image without feeling cramped. Colors are sharp and punchy and really breaths some life into your old retro games.

The only thing I really don't like/ the only con: THE GLASS FRONT. WHY? this thing is built extremely well. If I drop this, the plastic around will either absorb the energy or just chip but the glass... it will shatter (I feel at least) also putting it into a bag? what happens if the bag or something in the bag scratches the glass... I don't know only time will tell

ignoring that, The RG476H is the perfect device for retro gaming, some modern 3d graphical gaming and just a fun device to take with you on your adventure. You can't beat the price for the screen, controls, and overall performance. Just delete the pre installed emulators, and the AI crap and you're ready to game.

RG476 H

The Anbernic RG476H is a very well-balanced and polished device.

Build quality stands out positively for its price range: the body feels solid and solid, with no creaks or loose parts. Materials and fit are good, and overall it looks and feels surprisingly elegant far from the usual budget “brick” impression.

The 4.7" LTPS screen is one of the best in this segment: sharp, bright, accurate 4:3 aspect ratio, great colors and viewing angles, and the 120 Hz refresh rate keeps everything smooth.
Battery life is excellent 7–8 hours even with demanding systems, and standby is truly impressive: the charge barely drops over several days.

Emulation across the board is stable and reliable on all the main platforms the device is rated for, with no major issues.

The built-in library scraper is simple but effective, it recognizes games without any hassle.

Overall, everything feels thoughtfully balanced: build, screen, battery, and performance.

There are no obvious weak points or big compromises. For the price, it’s more than fair a solid and pleasant purchase.
Highly recommended!

A lot of fun.

The RG476H is a lot of fun. I have played more retro games the past week than any modern game in years. The screen is bright and colorful, the 120hz allows for BFI ( black frame insertion) which greatly improves the motion quality. Add a crt filter and these games pop off the screen in a way that really takes you back to playing them as a kid on a crt tv. You know, the ones that have 19" screens and weigh 100 pounds. I carry one in my pocket now, what a time to be a gamer.

The one gripe I have, I wish they offered a model with the Dimensity 8300. I don't like the colorways for the metal shell of the 477M. The screen disappears into the glossy, all black aesthetic of my 476H making bezels a non-issue, even on 16:9 content. Anbernic, make this exact console with the 8300 and a 120hz oled, and I'll be back.

Pretty damn good!

Great build quality and premium feel for this to be a budget device! I do wish it had the more powerful chip setup as many have mentioned. It can run some PS2 and GameCube games, but the lighter ones! Overall it has been an awesome first android device for me. 🤘

I love it.

Love this handheld. Looks good, feels solid and well made, nice size screen. Plays 90% of my retro library really well. Has small lag on some PS2 games and some lag when fighting some bosses on the N64 Zelda Ocarina of time. Dig how it plays android games like hunt down. Overall for the price i cant ask for anything more. Bought it for my plane ride. Arrived in 10 Days to California.

Handheld

Honestly it's not a bad little device. So far I've been able to play ps2 and other games below actually really well. The fan is quiet and the design is decent. I have had all my data erased off of my SD card once so far so I had to re-download my games and start again. No real complaints other than that.

Into android gaming thanks to this device

Android is great, but I never wanted my retro handheld to feel like a phone. I don’t want notifications, socials or any of that stuff buzzing while I’m trying to disconnect and play. So at first I wasn’t excited about an Android-based console. Then I watched a Retro Game Corps video and got convinced I needed to level up my setup. I bought it… and I don’t regret it at all. It’s super fun. I’ll be honest, I still keep my RG35XX H in my pocket all day, but this one lives on my dinner table at home and it’s the one I grab when I’m sitting around and bored. It’s just a great device for chilling and playing without overthinking it.

Great screen and processor!

Really good screen, feels like an OLED-screen.

Processor is powerful and can handle most games.

Buttons feels good, however L1,R1 are a bit noisy.

The formfactor is quite slim, pocket friendly and without the big, ugly, bulky handgrips which almost all other competitors have.

A great device

I am rather new to the Retro-Gaming scene and I have been testing quite a few devices, including some from Anbernic.
The RG476H is visually very appealing (black) and feels great in the hands. Having played a couple games (from GameBoy to PSP) the experience is great and I can reconnect to some old games I hold dearly.
Overall a great device.
