just great

its powerful for its TINY size, pocketable and has awesome battery life for a micro handheld, only downside is that it doesnt support WiFi, so forget about installing updates directly from your firmware.

Very pocket friendly and plenty of games.

Everything is great. One thing. 7 out of 10 for load times with stock os, but works great.

powerful little emulator!!

Been playing Pokemon Crystal on this device for hours on end. Super fun! I have small hands so the tiny scale of this device is perfect for me! Very easy to bring with you on-the-go. Plus i dont have to worry as much about loosing jt compared to my Ds Lite or GBA. Sometimes it wont charge until you press the reset button. Good to know that trick. Overall im super happy with my purchase, i recommend it!!

The ultimate mini handheld

A console that fits in your pocket, at a lower price than any game in a store. What can go wrong? All retro consoles up to PS1 work perfectly and on this small screen, they look great. Having a ride on the subway and being able to play Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII or Super Mario World without being bothered by the weight or its size is incredible. Impossible not to recommend this console. Even with its size, it is incredibly comfortable.

Good value

As tiny as it is this little device is it performs excellent for what it offers. Very portable, good screen and runs most games installed on it flawless. The button and dpad are just a hair too small but they get the job done and actually feel good, but this device would probably be best in small hands. I'm surprised I like it as much as I do and find myself using it daily. This is my first true retro handheld and I am very satisfied with the value.

Perfect EDC console

I love this device. It is such a great pocket size. I just throw it in my pocket when I go out. It is small enough that it doesn't get in the way. At first I was worried that the screen size would be too small but it is a good clear screen. The buttons feel nice and the battery life is excellent.

Excellent Device, Quality Build!

Excellent device! Everything has worked exactly as advertised. The build quality is very nice, and it's quite light. Adding more software was no trouble. It's a really small device, which is again exactly as advertised and makes it conveniently pocket-sized; I will say that this makes it a bit cramped for adult hands to use for extended periods, especially for anything which requires both shoulder buttons. But that's just the reality of the device being rather small, I can't think of how it would be laid out better. You can even connect the power, mini-hdmi out, and 1/8in audio without the cables getting in the way of your hand grip! Comparing the reasonable price to the solid quality, I'm quite impressed. Would make an an excellent gift for a younger gamer.

Great handheld

So,I got this handheld as my first about 15 days ago. sence then I am guessing I've but around 10-20 hours on this and it's handheld it great. All the buttons are nice, I especially love the d pad as I play a lot of PS1 full 3d driving games, which it handles very well. Yesterday I took it out in the car and played for about maybe 4 hours, being made up of Sega Genesis (MD) and Play Station One (PS1) 3d games and the whole time it dropped on of 5 bars of battery. I'm very impressed. As for the price, I got it for around $43 because of Black Friday, but I don't know if I would recommend it for ~70 dollars when not on sale. The shipping from anbernics site is insane but you can always get it for $50 on amazon which is well worth it. The shipping from the USA came from California and I'm on the east coast and it still only took about 6 days or so, so it is fast.

Fun little thing

Good battery life, plays almost anything you can put on it well enough, and it isn't so small that my thumbs cramp. Speakers are passable, shoulder and start/select are a bit loud but responsive.

The only real downside is a halo/glow effect on the screen edges after it has been in sleep mode. It goes away after ~15 minutes, but can be very distracting depending on how dark the game you're playing is. I've only ever charged it while off, using a 5v 1a charger, and it still happens every time. If this is a big deal for you, you may want to avoid this model.

Overall, I'm really enjoying it, and it works really well for the price point.

So good I cancelled my Nintendo Subscription

I had been on the fence about cancelling for it for a while because I was keeping it for retro gaming but after I got my Anbernic I just didn't the sub anymore so I cancelled it.
It covers a wide variety of games and is perfect for playing old school games. Also surprisingly intuitive to use.

Take it everywhere

I've had the RG28XX for about two weeks now. The device itself is very pretty (transparent black) with a good screen and surprisingly usable mono speaker. Since I have a preference for the UI I tried different custom firmwares which there are a handful to choose from. After settling on muOS with a custom theme I'm very happy, basically taking this device with me everywhere I go. My main games are sidescrollers and PSX games which, as opposed to N64, are very playable without an analog joystick. That is also thanks to the excellent DPad, with the face buttons, although seemingly tiny, feeling nice too. I'll definitely be going through a few RPGs and GBA games on this.

Even better than expected

This thing is amazing, seriously. Basically every game ever from childhood. This one is tiny and great for my 5 year old to play on road trips, but even as an adult with large hands, the controls are easy and comfortable. Way better than the controls on the Switch, which i can't even play because they're so tiny.

The screen is shockingly good, even this tiny 2.8" one. Bright, colorful, great field if view, and smooth refresh rate. Sound is good too.

The menu system is a little clunky but not bad once you figure it out.

I spent a lot of time researching and debating whether to get one or not, the expensive shipping made me hesitate for a while, but finally pulled the trigger and absolutely do not regret it. I'm totally happy with this device.

Perfect!

Honestly, one of the best purchases I've done. It is exactly what they tell, the shortest retro handheld console, perfect if you want retro power on your pocket, I use it everyday!

Works well, easy to use

I quite like it, but the screen is way smaller than I expected, if I could have a do-over I would buy a nicer and larger device. That being said the small screen has great color and is just fine for most games. It handles all the games I have tried great. Might end up buying from Anbernic again.

Neat little pocket rocket!

Small enough to fit in my pocket but capable of holding a quite decent variety of games. Love this thing.

Screen Halo

There is a vignette around the screen that is pretty noticeable above the third brightness setting. Could be a dealbreaker for some people battery charging user interface needs work. The d-pad is squishy, not clicky, but responsive. 10/11

Amazing little device!

I love my gba micro. This thing is only SLIGHTLY bigger, and can play anything up to ps1/Dreamcast. Most N64 games work, a couple have issues, but usually a little tweak of the right setting(s) gets most N64 games running. Retro and MAME games run GREAT. Battery life is solid. Micro HDMI out is kinda awesome for plugging into a TV like the switch. Downside to TV mode; only one USB C port, so you can either play with a controller plugged in until the battery dies, or use a really long HDMI cable and no controller (use device) so it can charge while plugged into the TV. But hey, that's pretty small potatoes. Battery life is good enough for longer play sessions than anyone should need as long as you started fully charged. 11/10 recommend. I lost my first one on an airplane and got this one to replace it.

The RG28XX

I really love this little device, not only is it pocketable but also powerful enough to play more games in that little device, love the grey design of the RG28XX, very nostalgic. My only problem with the device has to be the buttons and dpad. The buttons work so well but they're just small and the dpad gets uncomfortable to press after five minutes or less. Either way, I love the device and will look forward to the other handhelds :)

will robbins

Nicely lightweight and small size. It could be just a little larger, the buttons too. I like the design and layout of the screen extending from top to bottom in this form factor, but it is the only one that looks like that and is a little smaller than it has to be.

Small yet robust!

I love that this device is the new modern Micro. It's got enough buttons, and the joystick swap feature, along with R2 swapping, means you can play a lot of N64, PS1 and Dreamcast, all of which take great advantage of this screen. And GBA is right on par with the Micro when at aspect. The stock OS works great! I wish it could be customized a bit more, but it detects controllers, it switches HDMI, and it has a bunch of really good options set off the start for nobodies. Worth every penny.

Amazing

No other words, really good build quality its fallen a couple times and not a scratch or dent, buttons work amazing and ive been loving playing ps1 classics, especially rpgs the control layout of the buttons work the best for those types of games.

I like it but it lacks something...

I really enjoyed the device, but the only issue is that there is no way to connect it to the internet since it lacks the necessary component to use Wi-fi.

Love it

Wanted a way to play the OG pokemon games and get a similar experience to what it would've been like back in the 90's. This is all that and more. Very happy with it.
