ANBERNIC RG 40XXV

This is a great piece of hardware. The screen is bright and crisp. The buttons and D-pad feel responsive. Nothing on this device feels cheap.

I love the inclusion of a function button to do all kinds of things such as changing LCD brightness or accessing save states.

The stock OS is pretty good and will be enough for most users, but I decided to load a different OS.

The battery is good but I wish it lasted longer and charged faster.

WiFi works great and adds a whole new world to retro games such as downloading themes, scraping box art, and my personal favorite, retro achievements.

I’ve been playing all kinds of games everyday thanks to this wonderful handheld. I love it!

Arrived fast. I ordered from france... here in 3 business days. Very nice screen. Just the right size. Brightness is customizeable. I've had the system for 2 weeks and i feel like i'm just scratching the surface of ita potential. It has a well balanced weight in my hands. Does not feel cheap. Sound is nice. The interface and the games that come loaded are many and easy to find. The favourites menu is awesome. Next up is adding my own titles, but base purchase alone is very worth it. Thank you, you have liberated me from the restraints of a nintendo system. A+++

The OS is sluggish and really ugly compared to all the custom ones out there. I wish it was better out of the box than what it is. I have the clamshellSP and this one and I won't be trying any other devices out if it's going to take a month to make it nice to use.

Love it! Been playing OG Pokémon since I got it. Just ordered the 406V. Not that I’m unhappy with the 40XXV, my girlfriend accidentally flung it across the room and it took a hard fall and the screen got kind of messed up in a very noticeable way. But I obviously know that these devices aren’t built to be thrown across a room so I’m not upset with the product. If anything I’m impressed that the damage wasn’t more severe. Overall I must say it’s an excellent product if you as far as Performance, Hand-feel and Durability. 10/10 Product. Honestly I’m glad it got messed up cuz it gave me the excuse to buy the better option after seeing how well this one preformed. It arrives tomorrow and I eagerly wait for its arrival and definitely will be purchasing more product from Anbernic in the future. (Photo taken after being damaged)

the console is very good and high quality. It's nice to hold in your hands. Beautiful and simple menu, I'm very glad that there is Russian language, although the translation is only 95% Very good and soft buttons, especially the d-pad, very soft and responsive! I really want to see exactly the same console, in exactly the same form factor, only for the d-pad to be like the RG406H version.
a big plus is that there is wi-fi, bluetooth and hdmi. I would also like to receive updates via wi-fi, rather than constantly downloading a new version from the site and installing it manually.

Love this handheld, it’s perfect if you’re someone that want to play your favorite childhood games and also very easy to add games to it with a laptop or computer. Would definitely recommend this product

It's my 3rd Anbernic product purchase (RG350, RG350P and now, RG40XXV). I've been waiting many years for a 4inch screen console (Getting old, my eyes can't enjoy a 3.5inch screen anymore) that doesn't have 2 sticks in the way of the D-Pad and buttons, because I want to play older consoles like Gameboy, NES and SNES. For the price I paid, it's a GREAT product.

For the pros, the screen is amazing, the D-Pad is top notch and I like the vertical form factor better than the horizontal one for that size of a screen. The performance is matching the reviews and company's marketing.

My cons are the battery life, the headache to get a decent AC adapter and cable that will not fry the console and the default OS. My experience greatly improved when I used Knully, no glitch sound when you start a game, it's correctly configured to be full screen on all emulators and the scrapping art box process is very easy.

Even if it's not a 5 start review, I recommend this product, if it match your needs and expectations!

Since I've had this little beauty, I've been showing my friends the capabilities of it, several have since gone on to purchase and I've been re-living my days of Mega Drive and SNES to my heart's content. Great form factor, easily customisable and a wealth of content. Love it!

Running Knulli. Very fun, fast shipping. I like the joycon a lot actually. really fun to play pokemon/zelda roms on. battery life is probably 4-5 hours on medium settings. would recommend and got one for my younger brother for christmas

From all the handhelds out there I wish the charging was Abit faster but besides that it's a cool little device

I started with Anbernic with the 35xx plus and rg556 but when 40xx appeared, I just got inloved. I use it every single day while I go to the work.
Actually I am waiting for the 50xx and a bit more powerful with 4.3 aspect ratio and with grips like the Cube would be perfect!. I think that would change the retro gaming world. Anbernic, Please cook it🙏🏼.

This thing is incredibly fun. So many retro systems, so I can play any classic I love. Also, anytime I get home and want to relax, I just hook up the hdmi, grab my Bluetooth controller, and kick it old school on the couch. Awesome product, big, bright screen, just awesome.

This is a really elegant implementation of a vertical handheld and fit great for my big hands. The gbc design and indigo GameCube color had me soaking up the nostalgia of my youth as a 90’s kid. Games play great and Ui is ok. PSP is probably not the best on this handheld but everything up to Dreamcast is an excellent experience.

Love being able to play games from my childhood on a great designed handheld with a great screen.

Easy to use. Great performance. Remarkable overall build quality!!!

All games up until PSP run flawlessly at max frames, but most PSP games I've tried struggle pretty hard to run at 30fps, most at 15fps which makes them basically unplayable. I'm sure there's some less graphically demanding games that can work well, but don't expect to be able to play PSP games at full graphics without some frame lag.

I really wish it could also play PS2 games as well, but seeing how it performs on PSP I doubt it.

That being said, it's incredibly easy to load games onto an SD card and play them directly. This is by far the easiest setup for emulation requiring zero technical knowledge other than "Put ROM on card"

Great device! Using it for Pokémon. Buttons on the back allow for assigning special hotkeys like fast forward or saving/loading.

I was not expecting this at all! For me it’s the perfect Linux handheld device. Ergonomics, screen quality, build quality, the grip, the fun… all is just so incredible! And I can’t forget the amazing blue color! You guys got it so right on this one

Happy with the product, amazing quality and great software. Some games crash on first launch ehich is a buz frustrating. I am missing a few OG games that should be default. Eg. Pokemon games
