Awesome product, on the Linux side, it would be nice if the Android side had Google play , how do I update the Android OS ?
We bought this as a gift for my daughter for her birthday. She's had it for less than a month and I think she likes it.
Best Retro Handheld Vibe but Should Come with Google Play
Many blog/video reviews I found for the 552 had complaints about the pre-release or very early Android software. All of the issues I was looking out for when I got mine seem to have been solved since those reviews were written/created. I was easily able to sign in to the Google Play store and replace the pre-installed version of many items with updated versions which are kept up-to-date via the Play update service. This also gives you access to "premium" features of the various software, if you've previously paid for them for other devices.
I have also installed pre-release versions of AmberELEC Linux and I am very satisfied by the current release. The touchscreen isn't recognized and the frontend very occasionally crashes when it's asked to scrape several hundred files at once, but the performance is outstanding.
This has been my go-to device since it arrived a month ago, highly recommended.
